So here it is again, properly this time: Aussie measurements in ml, a mocktail swap for the non drinkers, and a jug version for when the whole crew rocks up. Salty rim, zingy lime, a splash of cranberry and a sprig of mint. Christmas in a glass 🎄
Christmas Mistletoe Margarita 🎄🍹
Serves 1 · shaker, strainer, your fanciest glass
🛒 Ingredients
- 60 ml tequila (blanco or reposado)
- 30 ml triple sec or orange liqueur
- 30 ml fresh lime juice (about ½ a lime)
- 30 ml cranberry juice
- 15 ml simple syrup (to taste)
- Ice
🌿 To garnish
- Fresh cranberries
- A lime wedge
- A sprig of fresh mint
- Coarse salt or sugar for the rim
🥄 Method
- Rim it. Run a lime wedge around the rim, then dip it in coarse salt or sugar.
- Shake it. Tequila, triple sec, lime, cranberry, syrup and ice into a shaker. Shake hard for 15 to 20 seconds.
- Pour it. Strain into your glass over fresh ice.
- Dress it. Cranberries, lime wedge, mint sprig. Serve straight away and cheers 🥂
🧃 Mocktail swap
Skip the tequila and triple sec, add 60 ml orange juice and top with soda water. Same rim, same garnish, same festive vibes. Nobody misses out 🙌
🫙 Batch it: a jug for 8
- 480 ml tequila
- 240 ml triple sec
- 240 ml fresh lime juice
- 240 ml cranberry juice
- 120 ml simple syrup
Stir with plenty of ice and pour to order. Rim the glasses before guests arrive and you're basically a bartender 😎
3 pro tips for the best one you've ever made
- 🧊Chill the glass. Pop your glasses in the freezer for 15 minutes (or fill them with ice water while you shake). A frosty glass keeps every sip cold on a hot Aussie Christmas arvo.
- 🍋Fresh lime only. Bottled juice tastes flat and a bit bitter. Half a fresh lime is the difference between "nice" and "can I get the recipe?"
- 🔴Frozen cranberries double as ice. Freeze a handful the night before. They keep the drink cold without watering it down, and they look gorgeous in the glass.
