Why it works

Not another cheap string light

Three things make this one different. None of them are marketing fluff.

01

44 metres in two strings

Two separate 22m strings instead of one long run. Wrap one tree top-to-bottom. Or split them across two. Or run one along the fence and the other up the gum out front. You decide on the night, not at the checkout.

02

Blue + green you can mix

Most colour-changing strings cycle through reds, yellows, purples — the cheap-Christmas-light look. This one runs blue and green only, and the two colours blend together on the canopy. The effect is closer to bioluminescence than a hardware-store light show.

03

Truly zero-bill solar

Solar panel charges through the day. Auto-sensor turns the string on at dusk, off at dawn. No timer to set. No power point. No extension cord snaking across the lawn. Plant the panel, drape the lights, walk away.

Five-minute install

Three steps. No tools.

Open the box, plant the panel, drape the string. If you can decorate a Christmas tree, you can do this.

1

Stake the solar panel

Push the included spike into soil somewhere it gets at least 6 hours of direct sun. Both panels are independent — one per string — so they don't have to be next to each other.

Tip: If your tree is shaded, run the panel cord up to 2m away to a sunnier spot — the LED string stays under the canopy.
2

Drape the 22m string

Spiral up the trunk, weave through the branches, throw it over the canopy — whatever pattern you want. The cable is thin and flexible, no support clips required.

Tip: For a denser look, use both strings on the same tree. Wrap one tight on the trunk, throw the second loosely across the top.
3

Switch on. Walk away.

Flip the switch to AUTO. Panel charges through the day. String comes on at dusk, off at dawn. You'll never touch it again until you want to move it.

Tip: First charge takes a full sunny day before the LEDs come on at night. After that, it's automatic.

Solar Tree Dazzle Light blue and green coverage on tree

Real coverage

44 metres is two trees, or one big one, or the whole fence line.

For context: most string lights you'll find at the hardware store are 10–15 metres total. This one's 44 metres, split into two 22m strings. That means you can wrap a 3–4 metre tree trunk-to-tips with the first string and still have a second string left over for the magnolia, the fence, or the gazebo.

Run them both on the same tree if you want a denser canopy. Run them at opposite ends of the yard if you want symmetry. The strings are independent — each has its own solar panel, its own sensor, its own switch.

Solar vs wired

Why solar wins outside

Plug-in fairy lights look fine from the catalogue. Here's what actually happens in your yard.

Wired plug-in lights

You're tethered to a power point.

  • Need a power outlet within cord-length of the tree
  • Extension cord running across the lawn (trip hazard, looks bad)
  • Adds to the electricity bill every night they're on
  • Have to manually switch on at dusk, off in the morning
  • If it rains hard, the plug junction is a risk
  • Move the lights to a different tree? Re-route the entire cord

Solar Tree Dazzle

Plant the panel. Walk away.

  • No power outlet needed — the panel is the power
  • No extension cords. No tripping on cables on the lawn
  • $0 running cost. Forever. Sun's free.
  • Auto-on at dusk, auto-off at dawn — set and forget
  • Weather-resistant outer cable for Aussie storms
  • Move it to a different tree in 5 minutes — re-stake the panel

Built for here

Engineered for Aussie weather

We've sent these to homes in Cairns humidity, Perth dry heat, Hobart frost, and Gold Coast salt spray. They handle it.

Heat
Solar panel rated for 50°C+ surface temp. Same panels survive Aussie summers on rooftops.
🌧
Rain & storms
Weather-resistant string and LED housings. Light tropical downpours, year-round dew, coastal humidity.
🌊
Salt air
Plastic housings don't corrode like budget metal options. Coastal customers report 2+ years no degradation.
🔆
UV exposure
Cable jacket and housings are UV-stable — they don't go brittle or chalky after one summer of direct sun.

Why we charge $155

A $30 string light vs this one

There are cheaper options. Here's what you give up.

Most $30 imports

  • 10–15m total length
  • Generic warm white or RGB cycle
  • Single fixed string, no flexibility
  • Plastic LED housings crack in first summer
  • 3-month battery before it stops charging
  • No Australian-side warranty path

Solar Tree Dazzle Light

  • 44m total — 2 × 22m strings
  • Blue + green that mix on the canopy
  • Two independent systems, your call
  • Weather-resistant outer cable
  • Solar panels engineered for Aussie sun
  • 12-month warranty, replies within one business day

What buyers say

From homes that already switched it on

A handful of recent notes from Australian customers — paraphrased from emails & reviews.

★★★★★

"Got these to wrap the big gum out the front for our daughter's engagement. Drapes really easily, no fiddling. The blue/green together looks expensive — guests kept asking if we'd had it installed."

Megan

NSW Central Coast

★★★★★

"Bought one string, came back and ordered a second. We've now got 44m across two trees and the front fence. Turn on automatically every night — we haven't touched them since install."

Daniel

QLD Brisbane

★★★★★

"Tried the cheap supermarket version first, lasted six weeks. Switched to these and they've been through a full Cairns wet season — still going strong. Worth the upgrade."

Common questions

Before you buy

How long does it run on a full charge?
A full day of sun typically gives you a full night of light — dusk to dawn in summer, dusk to around midnight in winter. The auto-sensor manages it — you don't set a timer. If you've had a few overcast days in a row, runtime drops; once the sun's back, charge recovers in a day.
Can I run both strings on one tree?
Yes. Each 22m string is fully independent — own panel, own sensor, own switch. Wrap one string spiralling up the trunk, then run the second through the upper branches. Some customers stack both for a denser canopy on a feature tree; others split across two trees.
Are the lights actually waterproof for Australian summer storms?
The string and LED housings are weather-resistant for outdoor seasonal use — rain, dew, coastal humidity. The solar panels and the cable junction at the panel base aren't designed to be submerged, so don't site the panel where it'll sit in a puddle or get hit by a sprinkler head. Common-sense outdoor install, basically.
How long do these last? Is it a buy-once product?
Designed for multi-year use. Most customers get 2–3 years of nightly auto-cycling before the rechargeable battery in the solar panel starts losing capacity (this is normal for any solar battery). The LEDs themselves and the cable should last well beyond that. We back it with a 12-month warranty against manufacturing defects, and we'll usually help with discounted replacement parts after that.
Can I leave them up all year, or do I need to bring them in?
Designed to live outside year-round. UV-stable cable jacket, weather-resistant LED housings. The only time you might want to bring the panels in is during a once-a-decade hail storm or cyclone — same as you would with any garden equipment. Otherwise, install in spring and forget about them.
How is it different from your HighBright laser projector?
Different jobs. The HighBright is one fixture you peg into the ground — it projects hundreds of blue and green dots across up to 40+ metres of garden from a single spot. The Tree Dazzle is a physical string light you wrap around the tree itself. Lots of customers run both: laser for the wide garden coverage, Tree Dazzle for the feature tree or fence line up close.
Will the colours look cheap?
The blue and green are tuned to mix on the canopy — the effect is closer to bioluminescence than a Christmas-light strobe. There's no red, no purple, no rapid cycling. Just two colours that bleed into each other on the leaves. Honest answer: if you've only ever seen $20 RGB strings, the difference is immediate.
What happens if one stops working?
12-month warranty. Email info@thehomeandpartyshop.com with a quick description and a photo of the issue — you'll get a reply within one business day. If it's a manufacturing fault we replace it; if you've smashed it with the whipper-snipper that's on you, but we'll often help with a discounted replacement part.
